Sonallah Ibrahim’s That Smell (Tilka al-ra2i7a, 1966), was first translated into English as The Smell of It and is one of the few works of Arabic fiction therefore to have been translated twice. Ibrahim is scheduled to visit Montreal this semester and give a talk at Concordia University, that we will attend.
